裏摩周から神の湖池の国道沿いの木にオオワシが一羽とまっていました。

多くは知床・野付半島・根室の海岸周辺で主に魚や小動物を食べているので、山の中にいるのは

めずらしいと思います。

This time I just so happened to see a Steller's sea eagle inland .

Usually it spends time off the coast of Shiretoko,Notsuke peninsula,and Nemuro.

日本で一番大きな猛禽類、迫力あります。

Steller'sea eagle raises its young in the far east of Russia.

However, when winter comes, it migrates and spends time in east Hokkaido.

極東ロシアから越冬のためにやって来ています。もうそろそろ流氷と共に帰る時期ですね。

They usually leave when the drift ice melts.

飛び立つ寸前のオオワシ、羽を広げた姿は撮れず,　あっという間でした。

I'm sorry I was not able to take a picture of it flying.
